Creativity for my newest neighbor

It's been a super busy summer that is flowing into a super busy fall. Here are just a few things I have been working on recently.
I have been working on an 8x8 premade scrapbook for about a year and a half (don't judge me). Finally finished it last week. I did a 'Princess' theme and I created the princesses paper piecings using inspiration from the internet and my KNK. I just love how they turned out.
Sleeping beauty was my favorite. I just love the colors.
Cinderella and Ariel's pages were inspired by http://www.scrapbook.com/gallery/image/layout/3345159.html
She sells her work on ebay and is very talented.

It may not be apparent, but this page is Snow White inspired (note the apple).
This idea came from the KNK website http://teamknk.com/sisters-layout

I've also created a painted board for the same little girl. I just love the way it turned out.

I just made this adorable terrarium for my dad, who had surgery this week. It was super easy to make. I found the bottle at the recycle center (free!!) and cut it using my new favorite gadget. I glued twine around the top (to cover up what is obviously a wine jug) and to the bottom edge (to cover a small chip). I placed the jug in the base and glued a few of the rocks in place. I am hoping this will make access easier. I added small rocks, like the ones in the arrangement, to the center of the larger rocks, for the glass to sit on. I arranged the plants in a clear plastic saucer (again for accessibility). And the final touch was a tiny turtle. All together I spent under $20 and have lots of leftovers to make one for me :).

2011 in Review

As you can tell, I did not blog. New Year's Resolution #1 blog more (actually not my first). 2011 has been busy... see below.
The year started out COLD. South Carolina had the largest snow storm that I can remember. We were out of school for a whole week...gasp. Kids were bored and mom was out of hot cocoa and ideas. The weather finally turned into spring and spring soccer for both girls. My oldest also tried out and made the Middle School Cheer team with it's endless practices.
Also during the spring we were getting the house ready to go back on the market. The good news is we sold it rather quickly. The bad news was that the closing took a little longer than expected. What should have been a 3 week interval between old house and new house, turned into 2 hours. During the month we were in a rental house (turns out not unnecessarily) We had VBS, Cheer Camp, dad's surgery and my youngest went on vacation with a friend. A quick rush to get moved in was followed by a mission trip to Honduras in July (wonderful trip btw).
This brings us to August, when I chaperoned 5 girls at Mini Music camp, which was a blast! Soccer practice for Shannon and cheer practice for Jansen. Finally school started back, along with soccer and football games. I am very happy that we are a 2 parent household! In October Crafter's for Christ (a group I belong to at church) started gearing up for our annual Craft Bazaar in November. I also had to make costumes for Shoan and me for Trunk-or-Treat at the church. We were a mermaid and fisherman (bought mermaid costumes do not come with enough fabric for a church function). They turned out adorable. One little girl wanted to take her picture with the mermaid :D. Success!
Then comes the holidays. Always a busy time of year. This year was Shannon's first year as a bell for Zion Quartet's Christmas show :). After 4 years Jansen has grown out of the costume :(. Now I am sitting here contemplating the year and drinking my coffee. It has been a good year. May 2012 be better still!
Happy New Year all!

Catching Up

It's been just over a year since I first posted. I'd say that is doing pretty good for me. My New Year's resolution is to do better in 2010. I think I will try for 10 months. Anyway to update the who I am part of my last post. I still have the 2 daughters, only now they are 11 and almost 6. Both girls go to the same school, but only for this year. I am still volunteering at their school and at my church. I added another year to my marriage. It now stands at 16 happy years. We also added another dog and a few fish to the family. In addition to scrapbooking, I have been painting these really cool ceiling tile bulletin boards, which I sell for church fundraisers. I have also been working with my new toy, a KNK Groove. The link below is for the Santa file at the top. He turned out really adorable.
Hope you all have a wonderful New Year!

I have also been working some on my newest toy, my KNK Groove. I haven't quite gotten the hang of it. It is a bit more complicated than my Wishblade. I am also sharing a Santa file for both.

Hope everyone has a great New Year!

I'm not really a blogger...

but here goes. Yes, I have written the odd comment on other sites that have blogs. I think maybe 2 or 3 times. I have a hard time keeping up with life on a daily basis without sitting at the computer to write about it.
My life is about as average as they come. I have a husband (15 years) 2 daughters (10 and 4), a dog and cat, 2 cars and a house payment. I am a stay-at-home mom but I like to tell people that my occupation is "Domestic Goddess". I live in a small town and attend a small church. I volunteer at my oldest daughter's school and attend a playgroup with my youngest.
I am a crafter. I enjoy pretty much anything that involves paper and glue. Therefore scrapbooking is top on my list, but I find that I am more of a collector than scrapper. I have a really hard time cutting that beautiful paper. I own a Wishblade and enjoy making files for it, but only use a few of the finished piecings. I worked for a printing company before, so I have experience with the graphic programs. I would really like to go back to college some day and take graphic arts classes or photography (notice that I did not say journalism).
In my free time I watch TV and/or play on my computer. I love Tivo because I can record my favorite programs and watch them on my time. If you are wondering, House, Chuck, Ugly Betty and CSI are currently recording weekly.
That's about it for my life in highlights. If you have managed to read all of this, I would love to hear from you. Please leave a comment.
